Ladder Safety

  • Inspect ladders for damage before each use

  • Never stand on the top step of a ladder

  • Ladders should be stable

  • Do not place ladder on ground too soft, rocky, uneven, or otherwise unsafe

  • Step ladders should not be leaned against buildings unless marked as lean safe ladders

Saw Safety & PPE

  • When using a saw, always cut away from yourself and avoid using your hand as a guide for the cut

  • Never remove any guards from a saw

  • Depending on the task being completed, you may be required to wear personal protection equipment

    • Such as hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, mask, etc

Other Safety Notes

  • There is a fire extinguisher on every job site

  • Don’t carry power tools by the cord and never throw a tool

  • If you are performing a task that you are uncomfortable with, stop! Let the construction manager know you’d like more training to complete the task or that you’d like to be assigned a different task

  • Always be on the lookout for protruding nails, holes or uneven spots in the ground, work being performed above you, extension cords and other slip and trip hazards around the job site

  • Don’t wear baggy clothing that can get caught in protruding materials or tools

  • Wear closed toed shoes or work boots

  • Jeans are recommended
