Nisha
future homeowner

Nisha and her young son live in Marysville, close to family and the community she grew up with. The two enjoy spending time outdoors, especially visiting local parks, walking trails, and soaking up the sunshine. They also love visiting the zoo, attending church, and participating in special events that bring people together.
Nisha discovered Habitat for Humanity through a post in a local Facebook group and felt compelled to explore the opportunity. The timing couldn’t have been more critical. Even modest apartments have become unaffordable, and ongoing issues with her current apartment, combined with a lack of safe outdoor space, made the need for a stable, long-term home clear. “Not having a safe place for my son to play, along with ongoing issues with the quality of our current apartment, made me realize how important it is to find a secure and permanent home for my little family,” explained Nisha.
She currently works full-time for the State of Ohio and serves part-time in the military. In both roles, she finds purpose in helping others.Nisha is also pursuing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and plans to complete a paralegal program as the next step toward law school.
To Nisha, an affordable home would mean stability, safety, and a chance to build a strong future. “Owning an affordable home would mean stability and opportunity for my son—it would give him the consistency he needs to thrive in life and education, and the foundation to pursue any dream he sets his heart on,” said Nisha. A yard to enjoy the warm months and space to call their own would be a dream realized.
Due to high rent and tight finances, she’s had to make hard choices, often cutting back on essentials just to get by. An affordable mortgage will ease that burden and allow her to better provide for her family, save for emergencies, and plan for the future.
When she found out she had been selected for Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program, Nisha was overwhelmed with gratitude. Now, she’s looking forward to building a safe, affordable permanent home—a place where her family can grow, gather, and thrive.
